A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from 6 PM Tuesday evening to 6 AM on Wednesday for New York City. Although Tuesday morning will start out dry and calm, the wicked winter weather will make its appearance in the afternoon, and according to CBS 2 HD's John Elliot, what will start off as light precipitation will turn to a messy snow/sleet mix causing headaches on the roads. The snow is expected to arrive by later afternoon to early evening, but as warmer air moves over the area, precipitation should mix with and change to sleet by late in the evening. Then the real mess begins, with a change to freezing rain and sleet overnight.
